White Rabbits – It’s Frightening

Brooklyn's rhythmic sextet, White Rabbits are back with a new LP, It's Frightening ($11). In this sophomore release, the White Rabbits were fortunate enough to pull Spoon's front man Britt Daniel to prodce his first album. The result was success for both parties. Starting with "Percussion Gun" the album comes out of the gates with layers of drums and what sounds like five different percussion instruments pounding in a way the remains refrained rather than raucous. Our personal favorite, "The Salesman" is led by Stephen Patterson’s powerful vocals, strategic guitar patterns and complimenting drum patterns. The entire album is well crafted with songs placed in a way that makes the 30-some minute album breeze by while still leaving its mark, which comes as a large feat for an act that is more known for having such a strong live show. Overall, we have to think It's Frightening will be a huge step towards indie rock stradom for these Brooklynites.
